The band are...
Mark and Mike have played in bands in Lichfield since the 80s, with Mark fronting the rock outfit Roamer. Rolls is an experienced session bassist, with tons of live experience ranging from punk to blues and jazz. Tracey lends a soulful feminine touch, and Dylan has been singing and playing with various bands since the age of 17. Medicine Sunday first got together in 1998 to record the 5 track promo Richard Burton, a lovable collection of jangling guitars, harmonica and pop harmonies.
![]() | In late summer 2001 they recorded the mini album Unseen Rain, recorded mostly live at Rhythm Studios just outside Stratford. Mark says we wanted to experiment with instrumentation, get that blues feeling through, and get away from the standard song arrangements. He adds Medicine Sunday is not about egos or showing off... its about doing whats right to let a good song shine through.
Garnering great reviews and decent sales, Unseen Rain has been described by Whats On Birmingham as a dark bluesy masterpiece and was voted one of their choice CDs of 2001. Mike Davies in the Birmingham Post gave it a 4/5 star review, saying If they were American, theyd be wading knee deep through fulsome mountains of critical praise. Ellie Piovesana in the Lichfield Mercury said the songs were emotional and haunting. Medicine Sunday are signed to US label PeaceWork Records. Copies of Unseen Rain can be purchased from PeaceWork Music Net or Solarise Records. The band also contributed a track to the Bandit A&R Summer Sampler 2002 double CD (more information here). They are currently working on material for a new full-length album. In the meantime a new CD single will be released soon.
